How does stress affect the body?
We all experience stress on some level. When we face chronic high stress that’s when we can begin to see physical and mental effects on the body. Stress may show up in the body as aches and pains, fatigue, sleep problems, anxiety, irritability, or depression…and that’s just to name a few. We all have a different tolerance level for stress and our response to stress is unique to each of us.
What is the Stress Recovery Program?
At Collier Compounding we have created a Wellness Program to identify the key stressors in your life as well as what stage (or severity) you’re experiencing stress. The stage of stress is determined by a saliva test which looks at cortisol levels throughout the day. The key stressors in your life can be narrowed down by a questionnaire we provide. The combination of identifying both stage of stress and stressor are the first step to Stress Recovery.
What will the pharmacist do with my test results?
After receiving your saliva test results, we will schedule a one-on-one consultation with our pharmacist. During your consultation our pharmacist will establish support around your results to help you begin your Stress Recovery journey. Through multiple appointments with our pharmacist over the next year we have the opportunity for continuous guidance in this process. Oftentimes, the focus of these appointments will be on lifestyle and dietary recommendations along with supplementation if needed to help with improving your physical response to stress and eliminating those things that initially caused the stress.
We also have a Certified Health Coach on Staff who can work with you to implement these new habits into your life. Check out more info about our Health Coach Services here.
Tell me more about the Saliva Test…
The hormone cortisol is released by the body in response to stress. The saliva test we use looks at 4 different cortisol levels throughout the day, to give us a clearer picture of your physical response to stress. Cortisol is produced by the adrenal gland, which is where we get the term adrenal insufficiency (which is when the adrenal gland isn’t responding to stress the way it’s meant to). These saliva test results along with your completed stress questionnaire help the pharmacist make the best recommendation for you!
